You honour me greatly! I was just about to change the line into 'an exquisite type of torture' but now you like it, I think I'll leave it.

Hoorah for you and hockey fights.

You honor me by throwing down bad-ass quotes like this one!

You know I love those hockey fights! If they were girls, they would have pulled each other's hair ...

Those hockey fights... they keep on my mind. I asked you about this before, and you thought I was trying to be funny. But I am really that ignorant.

I am fascinated though... why are those two umpires (I do know what those stripy-shirted guys are!) just circling around the two specimen bashing each other's skull in? Why does the speaker’s voice has such gleeful tone? Why is there no blood or eyeballs bouncing all over the ice floor?

Excuse my word choice, I have read Homer's "Ilias" this week, the most bloodthirsty book I ever read; a book with, I imagine, the highest bloodbath-to-page quota. But such a beautiful book of hypnotic poetic scenery and strength, with magical sentence constructions, completely stripped clean of all superfluous bullshit! It drags you in and takes over your mind… till you want to be there, and only there.

However, back to hockey fights... is it some public joke, these fights? Are they not real? The catch as catch can element in this sport if you will? Is it a show? Enlighten me if you will.

And how is Mrs DMG's back? And you? Hey!

A little birdy tells me, that 'Ilias' is 'Iliad' in English.

Martijn, you don't know nuthin' about North American hockey! The fights are very much real. Hands, jaws, ocular bones get broken. Enforcers retire early, often slip into depression, and sometimes kill themselves. And still I post them not because I love the fights, but because I love the cadence of "Recondite Quips and Hockey Fight Clips." Am I depraved?

Thanks for asking about Mme. DMG. She's doing much better, so much so that I'm afraid she will challenge herself and ding her back again. The woman is tough, I tell you. Tough!

Thanks for stopping by!

"Recondite Quips and Hockey Fight Clips" has Homeric quality. I too love that caption.

And, yes, I know nothing about Ice Hockey as we call hockey [since field hockey is the (this italisation will probably not work but I have made my point) hockey to us]. The only time I watch it is with the Olympics, and they hardly ever fight during those matches. And still the buzz, the excitement of everyone around the fighters amazes me; as if everyone has come to the stadium just for this. Like with John McEnroe's outbursts: everyone knew he was really pissed, but there was at least a part show & entertainment attached.

But thanks for taking me to your world, Dave. Hey!

I forget the name of the Fliers coach who used to say, "If we don't find a way to take the fighting out of hockey, we're going to have to build some bigger stadiums."
